| A large number of ladies live at a bustling pace these days. Many work full time. They take their children to day care and after-school activities. And a great many ladies have the added responsibility of being the household "auto care manager." While automobile care, normally, has been considered "men's work", studies by the Car Care Council shows that ladies represent 60 percent of auto service customers in North America, and women spend more than $300 billion every year on vehicle maintenance, repairs and used autos.
To help keep ladies "on the go," ladies are advised to visit their local dealership during April Auto Care Month to make sure that their automobile is up-to-date on its maintenance needs. Maintenance inspectors will show items requiring service that can help a car run better, last longer, maintain its value and render optimal safety and security.
Beneath are safety and maintenance tips that will help a vehicle run at its best before the spring and summertime.
Tyre Tips
Blowouts: If your tyre blows out on the go, do not slam on your brakes. Doing so can cause the automobile to swerve in the direction of the blowout. Instead, gently put on the brakes to get control back and slowly head the motor vehicle to a safe place away from the road.
Air pressure: To avoid under-inflation, it is strictly recommended to check your tyres' air pressure, at least, once a month and before every long journey. Tyres must be checked when they are cold - that is, before they have been run no more than one mile (1.6 km). Under-inflation commonly leads to tyre blowouts.
Tyres lose air through a process called permeation. Changes in outdoor temperature can affect the rate at which a tyre blows out. Usually, a tyre loses one pound to two pounds of pressure monthly, and even more in warm weather.
As the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) reported, every time the outside temperature decreases by 10 degrees Fahrenheit, the air pressure in your tyres reduces one pound to two pounds per square inch.
By following the tips that mentioned above you will be safe on the road. |
